Still one of my favorite movies. I saw it on the 4th of July with Jim instead of going to see the fireworks. We were both working at Dominicks that night and the store was dead. I had negotiated with our manager Armin to get the 3rd off so I could go to the comic book convention and he told me that if I did, I'd have to work the 4th. Apparently he was having a tough time finding people willing to work that day. The store was so dead that our assistant manager actually ran out of things for us to do. When I asked him if he wanted me to sit around and do nothing he told me no, stand around and do nothing. That, and the time I had an incredibly bad headache are the only two times I've skipped fireworks.

I remember that as one of the two movies you got me into when you were 17 (eligible for "R"-rated movies) and I was still 16. The other was Robocop, which remains my favorite Criterion disc :)
I distinctly remember first seeing the trailer for Robocop at the Chicago Comicon. It was right after the trailer for Lost Boys which I thought looked incredibly lame at the time and skipped in the theater only to later find out on video that it was actually pretty good. I should post a Robocop trailer since I have a good story about my dad to go along with it.
